  • NSF International Appoints New Vice President of Marketing

Elizabeth Jones joins NSF with extensive experience in the consumer and military sectors
    July 1, 2009

NSF Intl. has announced the appointment of Elizabeth A. Jones as its new vice president of marketing.

In her new position, Jones will be responsible for strategic leadership, as well as oversight of corporate marketing and branding, communications and regulatory affairs.

She will lead global multi-channel marketing for both business and consumer markets, driving brand recognition and growth for NSF Intl.

“Elizabeth’s experience and remarkable achievements throughout her professional and military career will further define the marketing and communications strategy that will help NSF become more competitive in the global marketplace,” said NSF Intl. President and Chief Executive Officer Kevan P. Lawlor. “We are excited to have Elizabeth join the NSF team and look forward to expanding our marketing and communications efforts with her leadership.”

Jones has spent the past nine years as the vice president of communications for Quicken Loans, Inc., and for Rock Ventures, an umbrella organization whose holdings include Quicken Loans, the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team, wall graphics firm Fathead and other businesses in the financial services, Internet technology and sports and entertainment sectors. In this role, Jones led external and internal communications, provided strategic counsel, aligned key messages across all teams and units and incorporated the use of social media, including RSS feeds, podcasts and search-optimized news releases, as communication tools.

Jones also helped launch two Detroit-based nonprofit programs: Bizdom U, an entrepreneurship academy, and Rock Financial Junior Achievement Finance Park, which teaches fiscal literacy to students. Additionally, she spearheaded award submissions that resulted in Quicken Loans’ #2 ranking on Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list and Best of the Web awards from Money and Forbes Magazine.

Her previous professional experience includes vice president of college relations and institutional marketing at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich. She also served as senior public relations administrator for Alticor, a global Grand Rapids, Mich.-based corporation and parent company of Amway, which focuses on nutrition, wellness, beauty and home products and manufacturing.

Jones served 23 years in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve, retiring in March 2008 with the rank of Captain (O-6). Most recently she was assigned to the Press Operations Directorate in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where she developed communication strategies and responded to national and international media queries.

Previous assignments included commanding officer of three Naval Reserve Public Affairs Units; director of the Navy Public Affairs Center in Norfolk, Va.; public affairs officer for U.S. Naval Forces in the Caribbean; and director of the Secretary of the Navy’s Public Affairs Field Office in New York City. Jones also served as a national vice president of the Naval Reserve Association.

Jones has earned several awards, including the Public Relations Society of America’s Silver Anvil Award twice for her work with the 1997 Armed Forces Presidential Inaugural Committee and her work with the Navy Team Public Affairs. Her military awards and honors include the Department of Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Rear Admiral Robert Ravitz Award for public affairs excellence and the Navy Reserve’s Leo F. Bilger Award for outstanding mission effectiveness.

Jones received her master’s degree in business administration from New Hampshire College in Manchester, N.H., and her bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame in Indiana.
