Don Correll will serve a one-year term
American Water, the largest investor-owned U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced that Don Correll, president and CEO, was appointed president of the Board of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC), a national trade association representing all aspects of the private water service industry. Correll will serve a one-year term, which began on Oct. 21.
“I look forward to furthering NAWC’s mission of promoting the value of the private sector as the provider of quality, sustainable water services and innovative solutions,” Correll said. "Partnerships between municipalities and the private sector are an increasingly important strategy for dealing with the nation’s water infrastructure challenges and the NAWC maintains an aggressive set of programs to support the private water service industry and their customers.”
“Don Correll has for years been a leader in the water industry,” said Peter Cook, executive director of NAWC. “As our president, Don is uniquely qualified to guide the NAWC and our industry. The entire NAWC membership and staff look forward to a productive and successful year with Don at the helm.”
In his current role as president and CEO, Correll leads a team of more than 7,000 dedicated professionals who provide drinking water, wastewater and other related services to approximately 15 million people in 32 states and Ontario, Canada. He is responsible for developing the overall strategy and vision of American Water and directing its key business development initiatives.
Prior to joining American Water in 2006, Correll served as president and CEO of Pennichuck Corp., a New Hampshire-based water utility holding company. Correll also spent 25 years with United Water Resources, a leading investor-owned water services company, where he served as chairman, president and CEO.
In addition to his role with the NAWC, Correll serves on the boards of a variety of civic, professional and business organizations, including the Environmental Financial Advisory Board of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, HealthSouth Corp., New Jersey Resources and is a commissioner of the New Jersey Water Supply Authority.
