As the builders of our nation's infrastructure, civil engineers contribute greatly to public health, safety and welfare, as well as to our nation's economy. Despite such achievements as creating our nation's interstate highway system and providing safe drinking water, civil engineers often remain unsung heroes. These awards call attention to and celebrate leadership, creative spirit and commitment to excellence within the engineering profession.
