The Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) announced that Dr. Mohammad ("Mo") Abu-orf has joined the company's Corporate Technology division of Siemens Water Technologies.
Most recently, Abu-orf was director of biosolids processing in the Central Technical Services (CTS) group at Veolia Water North America. Before that, he was director of the biosolids R&D programs at USFilter/Veolia Water Systems' North American Technology Center (NATC). He also served as project manager at the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) in Alexandria, Va.
"Mo is extremely knowledgeable in the areas of wastewater treatment process engineering, solids-liquid separation, biosolids management and odor control, and we're delighted to have him join Siemens Water Technologies," said Joe Zuback, chief technology officer of the I&S division Water Technologies. "As part of our Corporate Technology Group, Mo will be instrumental in advancing our leading position in wastewater treatment innovation and research and development."
Abu-orf received his doctor of philosophy in environmental engineering from the University of Delaware. He has published more than 70 articles in peer-review journals and referred conferences. He is also an editorial board member of the Journal of Residuals Science and Technology and an advisory board member of the WEF Biosolids Technical Bulletin.
