Last week, Water Quality Products staff ventured to Burbank, Calif., for the Pacific Water Quality Assn.’s Annual Conference and Tradeshow (Oct. 9 to 12). The event was a rousing success, with high attendance, lots of exhibitors and plenty of excitement for the future of the water quality industry.
Highlights of the event included the annual golf tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 10, featuring the helicopter ball drop, which this year boasted five winners. The day was capped by the Annual Meeting – including updates from Water Quality Assn. President Dar Watts and new Executive Director Dave Haataja – and the awards banquet.
Thursday launched into a successful start with a morning of educational sessions on topics ranging from alkaline water to point-of-use systems to electrodeionization. At noon, the tradeshow portion of the event kicked off, with the ever-popular ice cream social providing mid-afternoon refreshments. After the tradeshow floor closed, attendees got a chance to try out their poker skills at the Casino Night reception.
A visit to California is not complete without discussing legislation, and Friday morning’s Legislation and Governmental Affairs meeting gave attendees an update on the important developments going on in that state. Throughout the show, it was clear that PWQA is passionate about working with their representatives on legislation important to the industry, and they are raring to go for 2013.
