Two courses from the National Swimming Pool Foundation teach basics of pool & spa operation
Two new online courses, Pool & Spa Basics and Water Chemistry Basics, from nonprofit National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF) are designed to quickly get retail, builder, distributor and manufacturer employees up to speed on the basics of pool and spa operation and water chemistry. The courses will help people gain the basic knowledge required to effectively perform their jobs and serve their customers.
WQA's newest webinars are geared toward elevating service personnel for industrial treatment
The Water Quality Assn.’s (WQA) new Web-based industrial water treatment education program launched earlier in July and is designed to help companies raise their service personnel from doing only mechanical repair to understanding the interdependency of complex multi-stage treatment components and determining and meeting customer goals in the field.

According to the Water Quality Assn. (WQA), following a recent meeting with manufacturers over the Arizona Salinity Committee, the industry is emphasizing education, best practices and efficiency.
In April, industry leaders agreed to a set of objectives for the Arizona Salinity Task Force. The committee was established by the state last year. Comprised of public and private stakeholders, it is to report to the legislature with recommendations in September.

The training meets requirements set by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for drinking water treatment certification
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $181,638 to St. Louis Community College of St. Louis for drinking water job training.
“From EPA’s standpoint, it is essential that we groom talented and committed young people into drinking water fields in order to meet the need and shortage of experts in this important industry. The certification training is essential to successful job placement in this field,” said EPA Region 7 Administrator Karl Brooks said.

Water-Right/WaterCare held their inaugural Professional Level Dealer Network convention May 17 to 19 in Appleton, Wis. The theme of the convention was “Moving Forward Together,” and Water-Right and WaterCare dealers came together from all over the United States to do just that.
The convention kicked off with a tour of the Water-Right facilities and a meet-and-greet welcome reception co-sponsored by Clack Corp. and Pentair Water.
Disabled veterans will have the opportunity to get connected to jobs in the water and wastewater industries
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Program recently announced a memorandum of understanding to connect veterans with disabilities to career opportunities in the water and wastewater sectors, such as at wastewater plants and drinking water facilities, as part of EPA’s Water Sector Workforce Initiative. This effort will be beneficial to both the environment and economy as clean water and job placement for veterans are top priorities of the Obama administration.
