Change for the Better

In the water business, things are rarely easy, so it is tempting to think that only the “smart” or the “lucky” are able to succeed. Frankly, it usually has less to do with luck or IQ and more to do with good timing and the ability to manage change, as stated by marketing expert Leon C. Megginson in his most famous quote, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”

Following Through on the Follow-Up

In my last article (“Focus on the Follow-Up,” February 2015), I was pretty direct about my opinions on why you should be scheduling and completing follow-up visits with your customers, but in case you missed it, I will sum it up: I think follow-ups should always be done, and I believe there are few, if any, legitimate reasons for not doing them.

Ethics & Education

Each month, WQP features a dealer as Dealer of the Month. This spring, we conducted a survey to ask our readers which dealer of the 12 featured in 2014 they felt was deserving of the moniker “Dealer of the Year.” With a resounding 87% majority, they selected Scott Hillman of Integrity Plumbing & Water Treatment in Franklinville, N.Y., as the 2014 Dealer of the Year honoree.

Making an Impression

Jim and Martha Rabb founded Rabb Water Systems in 1951 in Plymouth, Ind. Ten years later, they relocated to Warsaw, Ind., and the dealership has been a fixture in north-central Indiana for nearly 45 years.

Rabb Water has since expanded to five other locations, with a service area covering 27 counties. The Rabb family sold the business to Don and George Clemens in 1988. George was the Rabb’s son-in-law, so the dealership remains family owned.
