AWWA CEO David LaFrance thanks water professionals nationwide for keeping water safe for drinking
Dec. 16, 2014, marked the 40th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), which today includes regulations for more than 90 contaminants. American Water Works Assn. (AWWA) CEO David LaFrance issued the following statement to mark the occasion.

To celebrate 40 years of the Safe Drinking Water Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water will hold a Twitter chat featuring Peter Grevatt, the office’s director.
The Twitter chat will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. EST.
It will explore the accomplishments of the act’s 40 years, as well as the challenges that lie ahead.
Participation is simple: Tweet @EPAwater and use the hashtag #safetodrink.
The conference includes seminars on public health code, recreational water illness prevention, facility management, advanced chemistry, drowning prevention and fear, health benefits and new industrial technology
For the 12th consecutive year, global recreational water leaders will gather at the World Aquatic Health Conference (WAHC), slated for Oct. 7 to 9, 2015. The conference will be held at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort, Scottsdale, Ariz. In addition, the first biannual meeting of the Conference of the Model Aquatic Health Code (CMAHC) will take place Oct. 6 to 7 at the resort. The CMAHC serves the role of collecting, assessing and relaying national input needed on the MAHC.

The 11th annual World Aquatic Health Conference (WAHC), hosted by the National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF), was held in Portland, Ore., Oct. 8 to 10. Nearly 400 people representing a record number of states (42) and countries (12) traveled to the conference this year.

Maslansky honored for his special service in the furtherance of the groundwater industry
Steven P. Maslansky, PG, CPG, of Maslansky GeoEnvironmental in Prescott, Ariz., has received a Life Member Award from the National Ground Water Assn. (NGWA) for his special service in the furtherance of the groundwater industry.
The award will be presented in December at the 2014 NGWA Groundwater Expo and Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.
