New York senior wins Patrick H. Hurd Sustainability Award for project in Kenya
A Dix Hills, New York, high school senior has won the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Patrick H. Hurd Sustainability Award for a project currently providing clean drinking water affordably to a community in Kenya.
The IsoTwist PureWaterMachine is an under-sink RO filter system optimized to treat city water using the existing water pressure. It makes up to 50 gpd of great-tasting water while taking up less space. The proprietary twist-off disposable filters are designed to make installation and replacement quick, easy and sanitary. The GRO RO membrane has a 50% recovery rate and maintains a retrofittable design. It comes in three models, with capacities of 36, 50 and 75 gpd. Each is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 58 for materials and structural integrity, in addition to NSF list component performance claims. Its element design integrates a dry membrane to maximize lifespan and provide enhanced performance for the end user. It has high rejection stability at high input, and enhanced rejection performance.
