The award was presented at the International Ground Source Heat Pump Assn.’s annual conference in Kansas City
For its approach to transforming geothermal technology, American Water was recently honored with the Visionary Award at the International Ground Source Heat Pump Assn.’s (IGSHPA) annual conference in Kansas City. William Varley, senior vice president of American Water’s northeast division, and Commissioner Patricia Acampora of the New York Public Service Commission, accepted the award on behalf of their respective organizations.
The event raises funds for safe, sustainable water solutions in developing countries
Approximately 175 Grundfos employees joined family, friends and corporate partners in its annual Walk for Water event held in Kansas City, Mo., and Aurora, Ill. The initiative was designed to raise awareness about the global water crisis and to raise funds for safe, sustainable water solutions in developing countries.
With water shortages in many parts of the country, more homeowners than ever before are looking for domestic hot water solutions.
Larger homes mean longer waits for hot water at the faucet, requiring impatient Americans to—gasp—wait. And if there are two things that unite Americans, they are that we are becoming much more attuned to the need to preserve valuable natural resources and that we want to save money.
Fortunately, technology—and water quality professionals—have a solution.
Hot water recirculation systems save homeowners water & money
The company is relocating dewatering pump inventory to New Jersey, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia
Xylem Inc. has activated a deployment initiative to move several hundred of its portable Godwin pumps from nearby states to prepare customers along the East Coast for the arrival of Hurricane Joaquin. Xylem’s operations teams are moving the pumps into position to remove unwanted floodwaters from impacted communities and businesses at a moment’s notice.
The company will feature several new pumps at the show
Franklin Electric Co. Inc., a manufacturer of complete pumping systems, will display new pumping products at the WEFTEC 2015 Exhibition and Conference in booths 3652 and 3654 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Sept. 28 to 30. Some of the new products featured in the booth include:
Designed for smaller municipal water and wastewater systems, the ProSeries-M M-2 peristaltic metering pump is suited for injecting the aggressive and/or viscous chemicals often used in water treatment. The Flex-A-Prene dual-tube assembly is now available. The long tube life and high-pressure capability (110 psi) reduce pump maintenance and replacement costs. The pump has an intelligent control system that permits connection to SCADA systems and other remote controllers.
The pumps are suitable for use outdoors or in wet environments
The Stenner Pump Co. announced a product upgrade to three metering pumps in the Econ pump line for outdoor use or wet environments. The pumps have been enhanced with a sliding cover over the control panel that is secured with a screw.
The Series UP6 gear pump, designed for small-scale water and process systems, is available with an optional microchip-based control circuit to control flow rate and prevent dry running. These self-priming electrical pumps provide flow rates up to 6.9 gpm at pressures up to 29 psi and are available in 12- or 24-VDC versions. Constructed with helical bronze gears, nickel-plated brass bodies and stainless steel shafts, the pumps are ideal for freshwater, diesel fuel and other compatible media.
The Inline 400 pressure boosting system is a compact and economical solution to most water pressure improvement needs. The system couples a pump and motor with simple flow-based controls to provide a typical water pressure boost of up to 40 psi, depending on the application’s need. The unit’s symmetrical design allows for easy installation, mounting either vertically or horizontally to fit within most existing plumbing configurations, including those with limited space.
Award winners will be announced April 23 at the Edison Awards Annual Gala
The Saajhi stepping pump by Xylem Inc. has been named a 2015 Award Finalist by the Edison Awards. The awards, inspired by Thomas Edison’s persistence and inventiveness, recognize innovation, creativity and ingenuity in the global economy.
