June 25, 2001

Midland, Michigan (June 19, 2001) -- The Dow Liquid Separations Business is

increasing prices globally of its FILMTECÒ Reverse Osmosis and

Nanofiltration membranes an average of three percent. The increase will be

effective August 1, 2001.  Petrochemical and energy costs continue to

increase significantly resulting in a need to cover these additional

outlays.

the capacity of its FILMTEC membrane production facility.  The expansion

includes third-generation membrane production technology and

fourth-generation automated fabrication technology.

FILMTEC membranes are manufactured by FilmTec Corporation, a wholly owned

subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company.  FilmTec Corporation is part of Dow

Liquid Separations which is part of the Specialty Polymers business group.
