Group aims to raise awareness and funds to build water wells in Central America
Living Water Intl. is set to host “Walk for Water” on Sept. 24 in Glen Ellyn, Ill. The event is scheduled to start 9 a.m. at Parkview Community Church on St. Charles Road, from which participants will walk to Lake Ellyn, collect water in jugs and buckets, and then trek back to the church while carrying the water.
Organizers hope the event will raise enough funds from the community to help build water wells in Central America, where the average person walks 4 miles each day to retrieve water that in most cases is neither clean nor potable. The walk allows participants to put themselves in the shoes of millions of people who journey to find clean water every day.
