Well owners who successfully complete both quizzes will receive a certificate of completion via e-mail
A free online lesson about nitrate in drinking water – and what to do about it — is available to household water well owners on the National Ground Water Assn.'s (NGWA) website, www.wellowner.org.
The lesson was developed with support from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The online lesson takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete and includes short pre- and post-lesson quizzes. Well owners who successfully complete both quizzes will receive a certificate of completion signifying that they possess some basic knowledge about the subject.
"Given the heightened concern in Minnesota about nitrate in well water due to some new research on the subject, this lesson is especially timely, as it provides some important information that all water well owners should know, regardless of where they reside," said Cliff Treyens, NGWA public awareness director. "The 15 minutes or so required to take this lesson [are] time well spent."
The lesson covers the following points about nitrate:
There is no cost for the lesson, but well owners wishing to take it must register, which enables NGWA to e-mail the certificate of completion to persons successfully completing both quizzes.
