NGWA Releases Groundwater and Water Well System Glossary iPhone Application

July 05, 2011

Application contains more than 1,900 terms for use by groundwater industry

A glossary of groundwater and water well terms is now available as an iPhone application downloadable online from the App Store, the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) announced.

The application for the iPhone is offered at an introductory price of $1.99 through July 30. Educational institutions can receive a discounted rate for multiple purchases.

NGWA Executive Director Kevin McCray said the “Lexicon of Groundwater and Water Well System Terms” contains more than 1,900 terms useful to professionals in the groundwater industry and other professionals and students in the Earth sciences.

While NGWA uses the terms internally and for its three journals—Ground Water, Ground Water Monitoring and Remediation, and Water Well Journal—McCray said the glossary serves a greater purpose.

“Here, in one place, the user can find reliable definitions for terms critical to professional work, research and study dependent upon accuracy and precision,” McCray said. “This glossary represents a comprehensive listing of groundwater and water well terms reviewed exhaustively by a task force of 60 groundwater industry professionals. And now, with this mobile application, professionals, researchers and students can get the definition of terms they need with unprecedented ease.”
