Video uses humor as retort to negative claims
The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) posted “The Real Story of Bottled Water” on its consumer-oriented YouTube channel as a humorous retort to claims made against bottled water by activists.
The video, found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwV2JpFnxWM , is produced in-house with a clay animation technique, a live stop-action style. It features a talking blue clay 5-gal bottle that shares her side of the story of bottled water. Source credits are used to back up the facts.
“In the past months, activists have made claims that the bottled water industry ‘manufactures demand’ for bottled water,” said Tom Lauria, IBWA vice president of communications. “But the truth is that demand for bottled water is consumer driven, and our video illustrates this important difference by giving viewers insightful background information about the industry and the true reasons of bottled water’s widespread popularity.”
The video is one of many on the IBWA’s YouTube channel, Bottled Water Matters, aimed at addressing perceived misinformation from critics of the bottled water industry.
