Current aging well is in danger of failing
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded $144,000 to the Consolidated Public Water District #1 of Pemiscot County, Mo. The funds will be used to construct a new water supply well near Hayti, Mo. The project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2012.
“It’s always a pleasure to help provide safe, reliable and affordable water to Missouri communities. These water infrastructure funds will partially fund the construction project which is estimated to cost $456,000,” said EPA Region 7 Administrator Karl Brooks.
The existing water supply well has exceeded its life expectancy and is in danger of failing. The new well will replace the existing one to ensure a continued adequate supply of drinking water. The well will be approximately 1,400 ft deep and will provide water at a rate of 450 gal per minute.
