Earlier this week, I visited Frank Panzeca , Water Quality Products’ 2011 Dealer of the Year, at his dealership in Wheaton, Ill. He showed me an important change he made after taking over as owner of the company last year—he turned one of the offices into a training room, complete with manuals, videos and more. He uses the room to hold regular training sessions for his staff, even inviting employees from other nearby Culligan franchises to participate.
Culligan of Wheaton employees participate in less formal education as well—each day, after they have prepared their paperwork and supplies for the day, Panzeca encourages them to sit down in the lunchroom with a cup of coffee and talk about work. This allows them to discuss issues they encountered in the field and provides an opportunity for them to share tips and advice. According to Panzeca, this is one of the best ways for water service professionals to learn.
