A state grant will help pay for the installation of a new wastewater collection and treatment system to serve the central part of St. Thomas, Mo.
The Missouri Department of Economic Development approved a $295,000 wastewater grant for St. Thomas through the Community Development Block Grant program.
The new system will replace individual septic tanks that do not function properly and will eliminate unsanitary sewage discharge in the city's drainage ditches.
Plans include installing a circulating sand filter treatment system with the cells, berms and pump station. The new system will be designed to meet anticipated growth for 30 years.
