Stage One of Singapore Recycling Facility Complete

Consulting, engineering, and construction firm Black & Veatch announced that commercial operations of Stage 1 of the Sembcorp Changi NEWater Plant (SNCP), the latest in a series of large water recycling facilities in Singapore, have officially commenced.

The Stage 1 operation is delivering 69,000 cu meters of recycled water per day to Singapore residents, said Black & Veatch, which provided design engineering, construction support and commissioning services for the facility.

“NEWater is a sustainable water resource for the people of Singapore,” said Ralph Eberts, senior managing director of Black & Veatch’s Asia-Pacific water business. “When Stage 2 is completed next year, SNCP will become one of the largest recycled water plants in the world, capable of producing a total of 228,000 cu meters of NEWater per day.”

The SNCP facility is owned by Sembcorp Industries, a Singapore-based utility providing energy and water services in Singapore, Asia, the Middle East and the United Kingdom.
