AMTA/AWWA MTC16 Papers & Posters Awards Presented

Awards include best paper and poster for individuals, students

The 2016 Membrane Technology Conference and Exposition was held in San Antonio in February. The following awards were presented during the concluding awards ceremony on Feb. 4, 2016:

AMTA/AWWA MTC16 Best Paper Awards:

  • Troy Walker, P.E., Hazen and Sawyer, was presented with this year’s Best Paper Award for his paper presentation, “Direct Potable Reuse - Getting Operations Ready for the Next Bold Leap.”
  • Brent Alspach, P.E., BCEE, Arcadis, received the award committee’s acknowledgement as an excellent paper presentation on the topic, “Broad Application of Cost-Effective ZLD Technology for Desalination Concentrate Management.”

AMTA/AWWA MTC16 Best Poster Award:

  • Terry Gellner, P.E., TnT Eng. LLC, was presented with this year’s Best Poster Award for his poster presentation, “Is Disinfection Needed? MBR Treatment Performance and Effectiveness of Disinfection Process.”

AMTA/AWWA MTC16 Student Best Paper Awards:

  • Sarah Dischinger, University of Colorado, Boulder, was presented with this year’s Student Best Paper Award for her paper presentation, “Nanopore Tuning in Lyotropic Liquid Crystal Membrane Materials for Optimized Water Transport,”
  • Marjolein Vanoppen, Ghent University, was presented with this year’s Student Best Paper Award for her paper presentation, “Assisted Reverse Electrodialysis: A Novel Technique to Decrease Reverse Osmosis Energy Demand.”

AMTA/AWWA MTC16 Student Best Poster Award:

  • Mohammad Alresheedi, Carleton University, was presented with this year’s Student Best Poster Award for his poster presentation, “Assessment of Natural Organic Matter Constituent Fouling Using the Silt Density Index Method Under Variable Conditions.”
