Hyatt Hotels is eliminating single-use bath amenities and reducing bottled water no later than June 2021 in an effort to reduce waste at Hyatt properties globally.
Hyatt Hotels is eliminating single-use bath amenities and reducing bottled water from its properties, according to a Business Wire press release.
Guests will no longer have access to small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Instead, the small bottles will be replaced by large, refillable bottles of the bathroom products.
Hyatt plans to increase the number of water stations at hotels for guests who want to refill reusable water bottles, reported the news release. For meetings, Hyatt will offer carafes of water. Bottled water will still be available upon request.
The changes are expected to be implemented worldwide no later than June 2021. Hyatt has more than 875 hotel properties in over 60 countries.
Single-use water containers will still be used in hotels in areas where they are necessary for water quality reasons, according to Business Wire.

Future efforts include switching out plastic straws and drink picks for more sustainable options. Hyatt will also increase the use of compostable, recyclable, or recycled packaging.
Certain Hyatt properties, such as Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and the Hyatt Ziva Cancun will provide guests with reusable bottles at check-in, according to the press release. Filtered water spouts have been installed in every guest room at the Park Hyatt Istanbul.
