New Northern Treatment Plant and interceptor system intended to expand Metro District’s current service area
Carollo Engineers and Jacobs Engineering Group announced that they have been selected by The Metro Wastewater Reclamation District to serve as the owner’s advisor for the Northern Treatment Plant Program.
The Metro Wastewater Reclamation District is the wastewater treatment authority for the metropolitan Denver area, serving approximately 1.6 million people. The new Northern Treatment Plant and interceptor system is intended to expand the Metro District’s current service area by providing cost-effective wastewater service to the northern portion of the greater Denver area, the company said.
In their role as owner’s advisor, Carollo and Jacobs will provide comprehensive program management and engineering services for the design, construction and start-up of the Metro District’s Northern Treatment Plant. Services provided will include planning, procurement and facilities implementation. This strategic partnership will also render resources, expertise and onsite representatives as an extension of the Metro District’s staff.
“The Metro District is extremely fortunate to have the team of Carollo and Jacobs involved in our Northern Treatment Plant Program,” said Catherine R. Gerali, District Manager, Metro Wastewater Reclamation District. “We have an excellent track record with Carollo as design engineer on two significant projects at our existing treatment facility, and the combined expertise provided by the Carollo and Jacobs team will help ensure our successful completion of a state-of-the-art facility to serve our growing northeastern community.”
“The Northern Treatment Plant represents a significant opportunity for the District to demonstrate leadership in developing this treatment facility as a good neighbor with a focus on effluent quality and long-term sustainable practices,” said John Fraser, Carollo partner and the Northern Treatment Plant program director. “Carollo and Jacobs will help the District define its vision and deliver the facilities by year 2015.”
