Competition Rewards Technological Breakthroughs in Safe Water

First place winner of the FTW competition will be awarded a $15,000 prize

Future Technologies for Water Competition July 2014

Entries are currently being accepted in the Future Technologies for Water (FTW) Competition. Managed by the University of North Carolina's Water Institute and sponsored by Takata Corp., the competition seeks to identify breakthrough technologies for safe water with wide-scale applicability and backed by a sustainable business plan. A $15,000 prize will be awarded to the first-place winner, and $5,000 to the second-place winner.

Entries must be submitted in the form of a one-page summary and should relate to one of the following themes:

  • Shortening the water cycle by looking at greywater and/or wastewater reuse;
  • Rapid testing of water samples with an emphasis on in situ, online testing; or
  • Protecting vulnerable and sensitive populations (e.g. the young, elderly and immunocompromised).

Entries must be submitted by July 31, 2014.
