Fiji co-founder Doug Carlson was namd chairman of the board at SOS Hydration
SOS Hydration Inc., makers of a hydration drink mix, announced today Fiji Water co-founder Doug Carlson will join the board as its chairman.
According to the company, appointing Carlson as chairman will help capitalize on SOS Hydration's unique market opportunity and act as a pivot for raising its profile within the investment community.
"People are beginning to realize the importance of staying properly hydrated, and SOS is the perfect product for that," Carlson said. "I am excited about working with the SOS team to make it a world-class success."
Carlson co-founded Fiji Water LLC in 1996 and served as its CEO from 1996 to 2005.
Under his leadership, Fiji Water grew to the second-highest selling imported bottled water brand in the U.S. During his tenure, the brand also was launched in 12 other countries and developed a distributer network of 300 distributors.
- Prior to co-founding Fiji Water, from 1989 to 1996 Carlson served as senior vice president and CFO for the Aspen Skiing Co., where he was responsible for all finance/accounting information technology personnel and risk management matters.
- From 1984 to 1989 Carlson served as president and CEO of Aspen's largest hospitality company, the Aspen Club Companies.
- Carlson is currently executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Nook Media, a position he has held since October 2013. He graduated from Western State College in 1981 with a dual degree in accounting and economics.
