We made it. While it may not have initially seemed possible to have a year filled with more unexpected trials and headaches than 2020, 2021 certainly tried its best between supply chain issues, labor shortages and an ongoing pandemic.
I wrapped up 2021 attending the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) Groundwater Week 2021 in Nashville, the association’s first in-person show since the onset of the pandemic and my first time attending the event live (view a video from the show here). First, if you have never attended a show like this, the drilling rigs are absolutely stunning to see in person. But moreover, I’ve spent a lot of keystrokes in this space over the past year writing about the need for collaboration across the entire water sector and left the show heartened to see a growing sense of partnership between well drillers and end-use water quality experts. It is a topic I want to drill deeper into (pardon my pun) in future issues, and I’d welcome reader feedback there as we ford new waters.
To that end, I’m excited to announce the launch of a new thought leadership platform WQP is collaborating on with editors from sister publications Water & Wastes Digest and Storm Water Solutions — One Water Media. One Water Media will work to bridge connections across the entire water sector to further collective growth and innovation through the power of storytelling. If you’re familiar with our joint podcast, Talking Under Water, then consider One Water Media an avenue to continue those conversations. Our mission there is to tell deep and meaningful stories about the intersections of the water industry, including drinking water, wastewater, storm water and industrial water. This has been a long-term project that we’re so thrilled to finally be able to share and celebrate with you. As we enter into 2022 — a year of transformation — let’s embrace growth and take on new challenges.
