The annual event brings together professionals across the water industry
Registration opened for the Illinois Section American Water Works Assn. Annual Conference and Expo 2019 (WATERCON). The annual event will be held March 18 to 21, 2019, in Springfield, Ill., and will provide opportunities to share information with experts in the potable water, wastewater, storm water management and reuse sectors.
WATERCON addresses the total water cycle, including storm water management, potable water, wastewater treatment and water reuse. Educational sessions and networking opportunities connect utilities, consultants, manufacturers, regulators and students. The event also features an Awards Breakfast and contests, including tapping, meter madness, top ops, best tasting water and hydrant hysteria.
The keynote speaker will be Thanet Natisri, a self-taught groundwater expert who was enlisted by the Thai military to come up with a way to keep water out of the cave during the Cave Rescue in Chiang Rai province, Thailand on June to July 2018. Natisri is a Thai native, who moved and has lived in the U.S. since 2004. His role in the rescue was to coordinate efforts to control the water in the cave and reduce the water level.
