Networking for Water

It turns out that the American Water Works Assn.’s (AWWA) “No Water, No Beer” marketing slogan is not only excellent for merchandise (the No Water, No Beer pint glass is a favorite at my house, whether for drinking water or beer), it’s also ideal inspiration for a networking event.

On Monday, I attended the No Water, No Beer networking event with Elisabeth Lisican, managing editor of WQP’s sister publication W&WD. The event, hosted by the Illinois Section of AWWA, was held at the Haymarket Pub & Brewery in Chicago, providing attendees not only the chance to meet other water professionals, but also to follow the event’s theme and sample some of the brewery’s delicious beer varieties made possible by clean water. Open to members and non-members alike, the event was attended by professionals from engineering firms, utilities, software companies and more.

Networking events like these – whether as part of a trade show or a stand-alone event – are excellent opportunities to talk with others in the industry you may not otherwise have had a chance to meet. I always enjoy meeting water professionals and hearing about their experiences in the industry at these events.
