Pacific Ozone has announced a collaborative partnership with CHEMetrics to bring a lower cost and more accurate dissolved ozone residual test solution to the bottled water industry.
Pacific Ozone is offering the Ozone SAM (single-analyte photometer) Kit employing the Indigo method from CHEMetrics. This new product enables water bottlers to quickly and consistently test for residual ozone following the disinfection process with accurate results at a low cost.
Ozone treatment is a critical disinfection and safety step in the bottled water process. It results in safe, good-tasting and aesthetically pleasing bottled water, killing all pathogens and, with a low level of residual remaining, continuing to disinfect the inside of the bottle, the air gap and the underside of the cap before sealing for a long shelf life. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Intl. Bottled Water Assn. (IBWA) have established regulatory standards to guide water producers in managing residual ozone in bottled water products. This kit provides a quick and accurate test for ozone residual between 0 and 0.75 ppm.
The Pacific Ozone and CHEMetrics dissolved ozone test employs a self-zeroing feature that eliminates the need to consume a test ampoule for each reagent blank; this saves time and money in the laboratory. The test results can be read in the photometer included with the kit or any spectrophotometer that accepts a 13-mm round cell, enabling operators to use existing laboratory equipment.
