The City of San José (Calif.) Environmental Services Department (ESD) is hosting a photo contest using Twitter or Instagram to encourage San José residents to share how they are meeting the challenge to reduce their water use during the current severe drought.

From Oct. 3 to 30, 2014, contestants can post photos on Instagram and Twitter, as often as they wish, displaying that how they conserve water. Photos should be accompanied with the hashtags #SJEveryDropCounts and #keepSJclean.

ESD staff will select five winners to receive a Drought Survival Tool Kit. The kit includes, all packed in a bucket: garden hose nozzle, soil moisture meter, shower timer, showerhead, faucet aerator, "Leak Fix-it-Yourself Guide" and leak detection tablets.

The photo contest winners will be announced Oct. 31, on the Bright Green San José Facebook page, the @SJEnvironment Instagram account and the @SJEnvironment Twitter account.
