The Southwest Membrane Operator Assn. 2010 Annual Symposium will take place Feb. 22 to 25, 2010, in Carefree, Ariz., and is titled, “Concentrate on Membranes:
Inland Treatment Solutions.”
Attendees will learn about concentrate management, start-up issues and
resolutions, new treatment processes and innovations, as well as system
optimization. Following a welcome by the mayor of Scottsdale, Ariz., a
keynote presentation will be given by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation on
drought impacts and start-up of the Yuma Desalting Facility.
The symposium will feature the Scottsdale CAP Water Treatment Plant with
an overview of the facility, followed by a facility tour and hands-on
training covering: “Sonic Testing of an MF Train,” “Repair of a Pressurized
MF Module,” “Troubleshooting and Inspecting of a Large Kinney Strainer”
and “DAF Operation Overview.” In addition, several other facilities will be
highlighted, including City of Tempe Kyrene Water Reclamation
Plant, City of Goodyear’s Bullard Water Campus, City of Phoenix’s Pilot
Study, Twin Oaks Valley 100 mgd UF WTP, Yucaipa Valley Water
District, Perris and Menifee Desalination Facilities and West Basin Municipal
Water District Recycled Water Facility.
The following new innovations and processes will also be discussed: ceramic membranes, forward osmosis, zero-liquid discharge, concentrate management,
pre-filtration, energy recovery and optimization, clean water flux, pH
optimization and improved cleaning strategies.
