Award features new category in outstanding journalism on water
The US Water Alliance released a reminder that the application deadline for the 2017 US Water Prize is approaching. This year, the award features a new category in outstanding journalism on water.
Previously, the US Water Alliance has awarded the US Water Prize to utilities, companies and research institutions doing groundbreaking work in the water sector. Now, it’s expanding the prize with a few new categories, including one in outstanding journalism on water.
This new category was created to honor a member or members of the media who have demonstrated exemplary reporting on a water-related issue in 2016. The award is open to journalists and producers from newspapers, television and radio stations, magazines, and digital publications. Inquisitive, intrepid reporters can elevate water issues beyond an "out-of-sight, out-of-mind" problem and help the public understand the true value of water, the importance of our nation's water infrastructure, and the challenges and solutions to a sustainable water future. The US Water Prize honors media leaders who are contributing to a sustainable water future.
The US Water Alliances is open to team applications if a group worked on a story or series together. It’s looking for stories from 2016, but would consider stories that were reported on earlier and continued to drive news coverage, legislative change or other action into 2016.
